“I grew up learning traditional Indian cooking from my family. Around nine years ago, we started a take-out restaurant in Rochelle Park, serving Indian-style street food. Given the huge success we had with this venture, we decided to launch Art of Spice, a premier fine dining restaurant specializing in Mughlai delicacies, North and South Indian specialties, and Indo-Chinese fusion.
“Our signature dish is Chicken Tikka Masala. Also popular are Lamb Rogan Josh, lamb chops, and tandoor clay-oven specials. The spice level runs from mild to extra hot and can be tailored to customers’ preferences. We also offer off-site catering for all occasions with an even more extensive menu, live stations, tandoor specials, and butler pass service.
“Art of Spice provides for a serene ambiance; although it’s large and has high ceilings, it retains a warm vibe and hospitality, which sets it apart. We always wanted a chic Manhattan kind of look and spent a lot of time looking for sophisticated pieces for the interior. Everything here has a story—like these Italian and Spanish chandeliers, which we searched for and which had to be custom-ordered. Everything here is very much a reflection of our journey, and it will continue to be so. Hackensack is close to home and close to our heart. We believe in the community and the efforts being put in to restore the grandeur of the town, and we feel a definite sense of optimism about the future here, especially given the massive changes in progress.
“We love what we do! The best thing about this job is that we get to meet and know the most amazing people and to be part of their life’s journey in a way. Some of our customers have had their wedding receptions here and were back for the baby shower.
“It’s been three years since we opened and we’re very proud of our achievements, including the five-star reviews and patronage. We continue to look forward to serving the community and being part of their loving memories.”
